Build a Garden Walkway

Planning to add a walkway or patio? Pre-cast concrete squares and pressure-treated lumber are the stepping stones to success.

I wanted a permanent, inexpensive garden walkway that could be built quickly and easily. After checking around a bit, I found just what I needed at the local home center — pre-cast, concrete squares. These "squares" only cost about $3 each, and they're available in a variety of colors and patterns.

With a grid of 2x4s and a sand base, this garden walkway went together pretty fast and will look great for a long time.
